The following table has been used to attribute different weights to the scores of the individual indicators of the dimension “Public policy”, in the EurOMo Risk Index 2023. These weights are calculated based on normative deliberation by the research team and news use via digital intermediaries (social media, search, news aggregator) according to the Eurobarometer (2022). A higher use of news via these intermediaries leads to higher weight for the last four indicators, which are related to the transparency of these intermediaries in their influence in news.
The EurOMo is a pilot project co-funded by the European Commission to monitor media ownership transparency in Europe. It is operated by a consortium of higher education institutions (HEIs) and research institutes, coordinated by the University of Salzburg.
